Tomorrowland music festival in australia - nick

Tomorrow land is one of the biggest and most popular music festivals for club style music I mean it’s just completely amazing if you haven’t seen the after movie then threes something wrong with you, it’s like 20 minutes and you see all that went on over the three days I have dead set watched it like 20 times because it makes the hairs on my back stand on end it’s just that good. I had a friend from high school go and he actually showed me all his pictures from when he was there and it blew my mind how ridiculous it is and I was eternally jealous of him. Now tomorrow land has been going on for a few years now and has finally hit the popularity mark where it is being brought to Australia. It’s only ever been in Belgium and I heard about this on the web that the makers want to have a tomorrow land on every continent which means it coming to Australia. Now don’t get me wrong this amazing news and the line up will be one to remember so ill definitely be one of the thousands that attend but I am a little bit sad because one of the things that makes tomorrow land such a desire to go to is that its exotic, it’s in another country with people you've never met from all over the world and the crowd is just amazing. I have a feeling that if it come to Austraila it will get filled up with the usual losers that attend music festivals here, you will get your roid munchers who never ever put a shirt on, you your drug takers who pass out on the d-floor, and there is always a couple groups of blokes who just want to fight. Okay I should probably say some good things about music festivals here I feel like imp saying they are all bad and they aren't they are pretty amazing  at stereo sonic I saw Zedd play at like 4 in the afternoon and the weather could not have been better, blue as blue is blue skies and I was right up the front behind the barrier fist pumping and jumping away at all of his songs, I went with all my mates but they couldn't be bothered pushing to the front but I really wanted to be there, I barreled like 3 people over and pushed my way through but it was soooo worth it cause they started letting off the confetti guns like right in my face and it was just a blast of cold air and there is nothing better than anything cold when you in the middle of the pit cause it does get pretty hot in there and you sweat like a pig. And then I was at future not that long ago and the dubstep tent was the place to be, I was there for like 5 hours straight and they had these awesome setups for the stages that just made you go WOOOSH!  Anyway back to tomorrow land, so we can expect a tomorrow land 2015 because the event makers say they don’t want to make just a cheap knockoff they want to make it just as good as the original tomorrow land so they will be taking their time. I’m super keen for this now because I’ve seen the line for the past tomorrow lands and we can expect all of the best that includes David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Jamie JonesJohn, Digweed, Alesso, Rebecca & Fiona, Solomun, Carl Cox, John Digweed, N-Type Friction, Terence Fixmer, Calvin Harris, Michael Calfan, Dave Clarke, Cari Lekebusch, Avicii,  Mat Zo, Jaytech, Super8 & Tab Norin & rad Boom Jinx, Nitrous Oxide, Nicky Romero, Skrillex, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Chris Liebing!, Green Velvet, Cazzette, Bingo Players, DJ Rush, Deetron, Chuckie, Jeff Mills, The Advent (Live), Luke Slater presents, Planetary Assault Systems (live), Martin Solvieg, Porter Robinson, Ben Klock, Kriz Spacid, Laidback Luke, Goldie Icicle, b2b Rockwel,l The Prototypes, Alix Perez, b2b Spectrasoul, One87 & Hookerz ft. Revolutionising and Changing Australian Hip Hop ~ Anthony Ryburn

                                                                                                Seth Sentry

Believe it or not, over the past decade since Australian hip hop was brought into the scene, it has still been adapted and rapidly changing as each year goes by. Subordinately this is due to the rise of more underground artists trying to break through to the national audience. Issues of promoting and producing and marketing etc. in Australian hip hop is almost non evident, which has led to artists to create songs that interest the target audience. Initiatives used include more of a focus on lyrical content rather than the music itself with a 'catchy' tune. The intense focus on lyrical meaning and purpose has led to an increased interest in the underground audience, and in some cases the nation wide audience.

Lyrics used are focused on social justice issues, or problems where listeners can relate to, with an active approach, rather than the disillusioned lyrics of the pop world. To describe it, would be to almost attain a standard of rhythmic poetry. techniques such as metaphors, similes etc. are compiled together in an artistic medium of music and tied to a background tune. This strong emphasis is the reason the music genre is growing and is continuing to expand from the internet to the real world. "Every day feels the same with a different date, and every face looks as plain as an empty frame." (Strange Lot - Seth Sentry) this particular reference to the song looks in depth at a cynical view on modern culture opposing the naive day to day man's view.

Hilltop Hoods ~ Anthony Ryburn

Now it's time to look into one of the most notorious group artists for Australian hip hop known as the Hilltop Hoods. Hilltop Hoods have been around on the music scene for over 2 decades now, but it took some time before they gained some mainstream popularity to become the international sensation they are now. Founded in 1991 they consisted of band members Suffa (Matt Lambert) MC Pressure (Daniel Smith) and DJ Next (Ben Hare). However after deliberation with DJ Next leaving in 1999 the replacement DJ Debris (Barry Francis) managed to extend their name to fame over the years.

They're strongest rise to fame came about during 2006 when they cleaned up the Australian music Aria Awards. They were nominated for breakthrough artist and album, however ended up winning best independent release and best urban album. As a result it generated an enormous fan base into the birth of the new culture of Australian hip hop which has grown rapidly over the past 7 years and they have been the major turning point.

The group has toured all over Australia in numerous festivals and more recently with their most recent album "Drinking From the Sun", it's seen them travel overseas to Europe, Britain and America. They're solo shows have drawn crowds of over 10,000 people as seen in the One Night Stand hosted by Triple J. In 2011 they performed alongside worldwide renowned artist Eminem.

The landmark album "The Calling" was released in 2003, which gained some minor attention, and broke into the Aria charts, with notably one of their most famous singles on it title "Nose Bleed Section". The success progressed into the next album "The Hard Road" which produced numerous hits such as "Clown prince" and "The Hard Road"; both making it onto the Triple J and Aria charts. "Drinking From The Sun" they're most recent album has also not fallen short with chart topping singles such as "I Love It".

The rise to fame has also meant they have initiated several side projects, including their own franchise of DC shoes known as the "The Hilltop Hoods Remix Shoe" being the first of any Australian artist to have their own shoe.

Overall the Hilltop Hoods can be seen as the initiation of Aussie hip hop, and the main reason for its rapid success. They have inspired almost every Australian artists battling to find mainstream in the hip hop world, and continue to do so with leaked information of a much anticipated deliberation of a new album to come out later this year.

Some say mainstream music now days are not what it use to be, music is no longer about talent and how to change people for the better but more about the wrap up or how it is presented. But despite these ongoing criticisms and complains about current mainstream music, it appears as though this new tread of bizarre styled genre of electric pop with relation to sex, drug and money continues to gain its popularity. This is probably the innovation of music, who knows what styles of music our next generation will listen to.

Influential People in American Pop Culture - Zhenye Huo

Influential People

Music has the power to change, to motivate, to move, or in some cases contaminate people in many ways. Not only are the meaningful lyrics in a song that has the capability to influence a person, often, it is the singer or the presenter of music that has the power to influence people. Each music artist have their own background story as to how to become successful, often artists would convey their hardships, ups and downs through music and to give their fans a better understanding of them. It is by understanding these artists' backgrounds, hardships which is what creates these influential factors on people. As mentioned earlier in  previous blogs, the spread of the American Pop Culture is very contagious and dominant across world and people may wonder how did it become this way? Its not just because they're really nice tunes, in most occasions the artist themselves plays a big part in contributing to the success of American Pop Culture.
